A regional severe weather outbreak where several reports of severe winds, hail, and tornadoes occurred from Texas through Illinois. Documented a rain-wrapped QLCS tornado near Minonk, IL. The tornado was never surveyed so I cannot confirm a rating. I would guestimate EF-0 or EF-1. Some tree and power pole damage was noted. Widespread severe wind gusts surrounded the tornado.

A moderate risk of severe thunderstorms was issued by the Storm Prediction Center for a risk of tornadoes and damaging winds through the afternoon and evening. We set off from Oklahoma City for the McAlester area. By 1:00 P.M. towering cumulus were evident along the southern horizon. We eventually caught up with a developing supercell in the McAlester area. This storm produced two tornadoes that we caught distant views of from the east side of McAlester. Video of the tornadoes is on VHF tape.
